Dark Eyes

Dark Eyes

I wistfully laugh

Hiding behind my smile

But there is nothing funny about the agony that lies beneath the surface

The emptiness of my heart that I conceal

But no one shall know

No one can see

The truth is hidden

Revealed to no one

Safe from you

Especially from you

You don’t know

You can’t see

Do you even care to look?
